IntelliGender Gender Prediction Test Review

I was offered to try this test by my sister-in-law, who works in the corporate office of a large supermarket chain here in Florida. She said that the distributor of this test would like to test this product on public to see how easy it is to do and how accurate it actually is. She referred me as a test subject and I happily agreed, since I didn’t have to pay for it. Currently the test retails for $35 and states 90% accuracy rate. Hey, I’ll try anything once and it sounded like a fun thing to try!

I decided to review this test by discussing each step of the instructions that come with the test kit. So you can decide whether this test is for you!

1. When you wake, please fill the collection cup with your first morning urine when collecting your sample. It is very important to use first morning urine when collecting your sample. Failure to do so will likely result in an incorrect result. Once collected, set the urine sample aside and get the test kit ready for use. Remove the white overcap, exposing the kit’s lid. Remove the white oval tab from the top of the lid, exposing a small hole in the middle. You will need to keep the tab close by as you will replace it over the hole once the urine has been added. You are now ready to perform the test.

Okay, whoever wrote this, more likely has never been pregnant. Excuse me, but like most pregnant women, I happen to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, so usually by the time the morning comes around, there is not much urine left over to collect! So here is my question, can I pee in the cup at 3 or 4 in the morning and do the test once I wake up for good? Or if I can’t do so, can I use the urine that starts collecting in the middle of the night (if I have any left)?

I believe on the morning of doing the test, I had to get up in the middle of the night, but ended up using the fresh urine that collected after that. So I hope that this is still okay.

The rest of the step was easy to follow.

2. Placing the tip of the syringe into the urine, “pull” 20 ml’s of urine (as indicated on the side of the syringe) up into the syringe.

No problems there, the syringe is very clearly marked, so you can’t miss it!

3. Place the tip of the syringe into the hole on the top of the test’s lid and inject your urine.

4. Remove the syringe and immediately replace the white oval tab over the hole. Replace the white overcap.

These two steps were easy to follow, hard to do them wrong.

5. Gently pick up the test kit and swirl rapidly in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Do not shake. Place the activated kit on a white paper plate, paper towel or piece of paper where it can be easily read without disturbing. This will help eliminate any background color when reading the results.

This step was easy to execute, I just had to make sure I didn’t overdo the swirling, like it says “Do not shake.”

<<<<<<<       Pregnancy Without Pounds         >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

6. Read your gender result promptly at 10 minutes. If your urine has turned dark or is a smoky green, you are having a boy! If your urine stays relatively unchanged or turns a deeper yellow or orange, then you are having a girl!

Here is where I got into a pickle. After 10 minutes, I got back and the urine appeared to be of darker color, kind of yellowish green, but it didn’t seem to match any of the shades shown on the kit. The color was lighter than the lightest green, but darker than the darkest yellow. But it still appeared to be more on a darker side, closer to the green shade. Perplexed I kept staring at the bottle to see if anything would change or if I would somehow find a logical answer.

Results after 10 minutes

I had to get back to my family, so I left the sample on the counter. After about one hour I happened to be back in the bathroom and that’s when I saw a clear light yellow liquid in the bottle. All of the dark particles seemed to settle on the bottom. At this point the liquid color clearly matched the color shown on the kit.

Result after 1 hour

So am I definite to say that I am having a girl according to the test? Not really, and here is my reasoning. The directions state to read the result in 10 minutes after swirling. Instead of getting a matching color, I got an in-between color at the 10-minute mark. Though the color matched very well after about 1 hour (maybe it happened earlier), I don’t know whether the result is valid due to it being later than the stated time. I decided to check out Intelligender website’s FAQ’s, but wasn’t able to find the answers I needed to clarify my confusion.

Update:  After doing an official ultrasound, we ended up with a boy!

  1. I just wanted to update you that I had my ultrasound and Intelligender was right, I am having a girl! I am very excited because I have two fantastic little boys and now get to buy some pink :) .

  2. At around 16 weeks I took the intelligender test just for fun… I read the directions about 3 times before performing the test to be sure I was accurately taking the test… and I followed them to “T”….After the 10 minute waiting period my urine had turned a very dark green… clearly indicating that we were having another boy (we didnt have a preference either way.. a little brother for my son would have been great and having a little girl would have been nice also since we do not plan on having more children) Well anyway, a week and a half ago I had my 20 weeks ultrasound and the ultrasound CLEARLY showed that we were having a little GIRL (I even asked the tech to double check haha) so needless to say the intelligender test was not as accurate as I was hoping it would be.. but its was fun either way!

  3. And as for comment number 21,I believe… reguarding the chinese calendar that you can look up online… Believe it or not the calendar has been accurate 4 times so far… (said my sister was having a boy 4 years ago when she had my nephew… she is pregnant again and again it said boy and she is surely having another boy) It was also accurate for my son and in saying that this time around we are having a girl… so who knows!

  4. I just took the test result this morning & it say’s were having a Girl! Although I know this test isn’t 100% accurate but it made my day better :) I already have 2 boys so I think it’s time for a girl. I really hope it’s right. I took an ultrasound test a few days ago and they couldn’t tell the sex because the cord was in the way. :( So I thought hey 80-90% is better than 0%. I won’t be getting another ultrasound that I know of and I am 22 weeks pregnant. I am due August 14th. Good Luck everyone!

  5. I am a second time going to be mom. I already have a boy 3yrs old and i am due on August 23rd. I am now 22 weeks preg, I had my ultrasound and in that they said may be a boy and they gave us the pictures showing boy but those pictures when showed to doc he said he cannot make out and confirm. So we decided to go for this test in my 22week.

I took the test with the morning urine and found that initially the color was very dark green and at around 10 mins completion it became light green and more towards yellow. Taking this test was fun… but i am left confused if it is a girl or boy? Also chinese calender says it should be a girl but not sure about it now.

Also i do not have any more U/S also to confirm me on that. I may be just have to wait until Aug 2010

  6. i took three tests.at 7th 9th and 11th.they all showed a girl results.but am really hope for a boy this time since i have 2 girls and my yougest is little boy.i don’t know if these results are really accurat or not?

  7. I tried intelligender at 6 weeks ,then at 10 weeks. It always showed boy and finally at 12 weeks my doctor confirmed it as a baby boy…Wonderful product.

  8. I read bout this test in American baby magazine and became very curious about its level of accuracy. I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant with my first child. I wanted it to be s surpise which totally broke my finacees heart (at first). He is now totally supportive of my decision and we are both very excited of the greatest surprise of our lives. The one thing I would. Like to say after reading your comments and opinions is that nothing is 100%. For those of you who had accurate readings that’s wonderful but there’s seems to be many more women who experienced the opposite. These women shouldn’t be discredited maybe they didn’t follow the directions completely and maybe they did. It sounds like this product isn’t the most user friendly product in the world. The instructions are a bit vague and subjective as well as the ability to easily identify the results. With that said ultrasounds aren’t always accurate either but the results have proven to be more accurate than this test. Lastly the Chinese gender is far from a science. I have it was wrong for more than 15 women that I personally know. I think it more important that our babies are born healthy than for so time, emotions, and money to be spent the least important apart of the experience. Enjoy your blessings ladies.

  9. I’ve just bought this product and are going to use it Wednesday morning before my 13 week u/s. I have 1 son and would love a girl, but reading these reviews, I think I may have wasted my money. Anyway will let you know the result. But obviously wont know for sure until my 18 week u/s.

  10. I just purchased this product on-line today. I should have read the reviews first! Darn! It boasts that it is 80% accurate, so I went for it. Sounds like it is a scam. If this group of women are a sample group, it looks like it is not accurate at all. I will follow the directions perfectly and will make sure I use morning urine… but wish I didn’t waste my money…. I could have spent it elsewhere towards our baby to be.
I’ll keep you posted on the test results and US results. I’m 13 weeks.

  11. I’m 16 weeks today and took the test and came up with boy result within seconds….we shall see….

  12. I took the intelligender exactly how it said and it said we were having a boy. Went for ultrasound and its a GIRL!~

  13. @ Admin

I took the early morning urine test and it gives the result in such a way that at the bottom it is green and on the top its getting fade with yellow-green. Can you tell me what does that mean? iam happy to have both boy or girl but iam looking for a gender so that i do shopping for my baby accordingly :) If you want a picture of the test result i can email you as well. Please send me your email address so that i can send you the test pic for confirmation.

  14. Toke the test at 21 weeks and it was a green and yellow mix color but went for u/s at 22 weeks and im having twins one boy one girl, i didnt know i was having two my doctor was in shock lol but i guess i wasnt wrong but couldnt give me a right answer since two different sexs good luck
Im due july 17 via csection one breech baby boy
    And one head down girl

  15. Hi everyone! I have taken three Intelligender tests now. We have two boys and we are now pregnant with our third and final..we want a girl so bad! I took a test at exactly 10 weeks, one at 10 weeks and 5 days and we just took another today, at 17 weeks and 6 days. The first time it came back mostly orange/orange yellow with green specks floating, and Intelligender said it was a “girl result”. The second came back even more orange, more towards the yellow side, almost totally clear. Today..our test came back with the same color yellow/orange with enough green to make Intelligender say it was a “boy result”. What does everyone else say? Any opinions? Our next ultrasound is July 9th, I will 21 weeks and 1 day and it feel like FOREVER from now! :(

  16. By looking at your test, I would have said boy right away. Which leads me to believe that the test results are dependent on the perception of the person reading the results, or in other words, it is not the test that is inaccurate, but the person reading the test.

I just took mine today. Results were less than “clear” so I contacted the company. I was told by a representative that any green in the coloring means boy.

In a nutshell, it is fun, meant for fun only. My only complaint is that the “clear” results as indicated on the box are not so clear. Maybe they can copy Clear Blue Easy and go for the digital Boy/Girl read out:-)

  17. I just took the gender prediction test today. my results came out very dark green. but the chinese prediction calendar says im having a girl and I feel like this one is a girl, despite the results. My hubby really wants a little girl. we already have a boy (Oscar 11mths) and hes gonna be the best older brother! I really want a girl. lol Im only 10.5 w right now and you guys actually make me feel like I have a fighting chance to get a little girl. Ill keep you guys updated. May get dna gender testing done when I go in for Down Syndrome testing. Last time my intellinigender and dna results were correct. But we’ll see….

  18. I realize that this post is probably from some time ago, but I wanted to weigh in with my Intelligender experience. I bought the test under the impression that Intelligender would refund false results…Needless to say, mine was wrong and the Intelligender rep I spoke with was quite condescending in telling me that I was wrong…

  19. Hey I just took the intelligender test and it turned immediatley green within seconds which sucks because I already have 3 boys and was hopn for a girl but then again at the ten min mark I picked up the bottle at eye level and it was yellowish with the green crystals in the middle.right now I’m 10 wks n 2days so I guess ill have to wait n see.

  20. I bought this test and it told me i was having a boy, just found out today by sonogram it is a GIRL!!!!! the same thing happenned to my friend, please dont waste your money because its not cheap for a game…..

  21. Malika, I would have read yours as boy FOR SURE! SO, I think that a lot of it is in the reading. I also see a lot of women who are not directly following directions. I have a friend who it was correct for. & what is the DNA gender test? Is is invasive? I think that it should be left a surprise. It’s one of the biggest surprises in life. I don’t understand how people NEED to know or are happier with one sex over another. Unless, of course, you already have a houseful of one sex & this is your last go. That’s understandable.

  22. I am currently 17 weeks and REALLY want a little girl. I already have a 6.5 year old boy and there aren’t any girls on my husbands side of the family. I took the test a few weeks ago and my result came up boy. Now my next ultrasound is in 4 weeks from wednesday and all these comments have my hopes up that I still have a shot of having a girl. I guess we’ll see…

  23. I took the test at 10 weeks and it turned very dark smokey green, I have to admit I was a bit sad that it didn’t turn orange because I already had 3 boys and just 1 girl but sure enough it showed we were having another boy and yes it was accurate we had a boy 28 weeks later.

  24. what did everyones test do about 30 min later, or even the next day? Ive been searching the internet looking as mine was yellow with green crystals floating in it. but once the crystals settled its pure yellow. No one seems to really post what it looks like a day later. Thanks for any imput.

  25. Girls, intelligender it’s just for fun, it’s 90% effective, just like a condom is 98% effective and women get pregnant anyway, they have a 2% window of error just as intelligender has 10% window of error, for every 100 women that take this test 10 will be wrong. it’s just for fun. just wait for the ultrasound at 20 weeks.

  26. I am super thrilled to find all this wealth of information!! I took the intelligender test when I was 14 weeks. It very clearly said boy. I was so let down b/c I was hinged on the fact that it was 90 percent accurate like the website claims. I have 3 boys and This is my fourth. I’ve wanted a girl since b/f my first boy was born. B/f taking the intelligender test the Chinese calender said it would be a girl. So, I entertained that idea for awhile. Now I am estatic that in fact the test may be wrong!! I am 15.5 weeks now. So, hopefully after the ultrasound it will be wrong for me as well!! I’ll post what it says either way.

  27. My SIL took the test and it said Girl and her ultrasounds have confirmed. I just took one and it was definetly green, I get my ultrasound to find out the sex in about a month so I will update and let you all know if it was accurate for me as well, chinese calendar says girl, needle and thread says boy.

Also just a note, I know a gal who was told by the ultrasound tech repeatedly she was having a girl and it came out a boy- the doc told her the only time the sex is for sure is a boy as you cannot mistake a little wee wee but it is possible to miss if the legs are crossed or if they just don’t see it sticking out…

  28. So I took my test as followed with the first morning urine at 6weeks of pregnancy I got a smokey green color I contacted customer sevice later that morning and she told me the test will deffinantly be wrong at six weeks not taking another one ill just wait for the u/s and as for the chinese. Its soooooo wrong.

  29. I took the test at 12 weeks and right away it turned green and it stayed green even after the ten minute mark. But I had my 20 week ultrasound and the doctor said it will be a girl. The test is not accurate at all.
    Very dissapointed.

  30. I got my test done when i was 10 weeks and the color it was green I was very sad because i got 3 boys and i want a girl, 8 weeks later i took my ultrasound and guest what??? i having a girl .. and guest what i did it with the maya calender

  31. DO NOT BUY this test. I took the test at 15 weeks and got a postive for girl…took an ultrasound at 20 weeks and it was a boy!! i read the reviews and there seemed to be more failures that a correct answer and still bought the test. wast of $ 40 plus tax.

  32. I took the test a little over a week ago and at 10 minutes it clearly showed the girl result. I had my ultrasound 2 days ago and… It’s a GIRL! I wasn’t planning on the test being very accurate, I only took it for fun. But it was correct. I think the further along you are when you take it is best. I know women who are taking it at like 10 weeks and they get really mad when the results end up being wrong. I was 20 weeks when I took mine.

  33. I took the test 4 times and followed the directions perfectly. I took 1 test at 9 weeks, 1 test at 10 weeks, and 1 test at 14 weeks with a follow up test the next day. All 4 tests were dark green, clearly a boy result. I went for my ultrasound yesterday and its a girl. I’m very disappointed in the fact that I spent over 100$ on this for it to fail every time. So much for that 90% accuracy right? I put my testimony on the intelligender website and they wont post it. I think this company is a scam, it seems they post wrong results about every 30 testimonies and the person only took the test 1 time. I seen one person on there that said they took it 2 and they were both wrong. I think after 4 tests being wrong they should have offered a refund. Its bullcrap!

  34. I took the test around 10 weeks – it said boy and my ultrasound at 12 1/2 weeks confirmed girl. The test was wrong for me as well. I thought it would be fun to try but, do not feel it is worth the money or accurate.

  35. I am a user in China. The test was wrong for me either.
I took the test twice strictly in accordance with the instructions, namely at week 21 and week 26. Both tests shew boy result. And two ultrasounds shew it’s a girl. Even I could saw clearly that it’s a girl.

The product was sold at around $110 per box in China by an agent. Some people even bought five times to confirm when the result is different from ultrasounds.

This kind of product should disapper from market.

  36. hai
i am confused too green particals were lying down on the bottom but rest of the colour of the urine was yellow but should i think about it .help me to find out .what was that?

  37. I decided to order the intelligender test online after reading evryones results and understanding that its really not accurate so for those of you who are complaining about spending money do your research first this test is just a fun thing for you to do while you wait. Well the test says im gong to have a girl so we will see in a few weeks.

  38. i took the test it said boy i am twelve weeks but it seems like the boy results turn out to be girls. i cant wait until i find out. its my first and it was a shock. so excited wish i new what i was really having.

  39. I took my test this morning and my results are unclear. Ive been going crazy trying to figure out what color it looks more like. Its not yellow or green its a green tinted orange. I figure it means boy because it has green tinted urine which is what your supposed to look at not the sediment in the bottom. what do you think? I also saw what looks like a penis on my 14wk 3D ultrasound(its a side view and its sticking down through the legs. So im thinking its a boy…..idk?

  40. I just have to say, please do not take this test seriously. My husband and I were really hoping for a boy and at 14 weeks the intelligender test said boy. We were ecstatic and started picking names and buying boy stuff…Until we went for the 20 week ultrasound and saw that we are 100% having a GIRL. Of course all we really want is a healthy baby, but still…you are setting yourself up for dissapointment. Use the $30 bucks for something else.

  41. So clearly the result colors need to be opposite of what they currently are so the results are accurate…hmmmm

  42. I took this test after one of my best friends suggested it.. she did it and got a ” BOY” result, and after going for her ultrasound and confirming she was in fact having a BOY , i decided to try it… I got a BOY result too.. and it was accurate for me too, confirmed with 2 different ultrasounds, I’m having a BOY. so i would say it’s pretty accurate!

  43. Intelligender – Fake Equipment

In India, finding the gender before birth by sonogram is strictly prohibited. I purchased this Intelligender at UAE and tested during 8th month of pregnancy. The color become dark green and showed that it is BOY. But yesterday baby born and it was girl. I request everyone not to belive the intelligender. it’s a mere fake device and the company is making money by cheating people.

  44. So since everyones test is wrong. Do you think it might just be the oppisite? I mean everyones test that says girl is a boy and everyones test that says boy its really a girl. So it works just not how its supposed to.

  45. I took the intelligender test when I was pregnant with my last baby who is now 6 months old and now I am pregnant again which I am very excited about ! Anyway the test came back and it was cleary orange and it was right . Now I want a boy but my husband has had 5 girls and no boys but I read up a lot on gender selection so I’m hoping maybe this time he will get the little boy he wants so badly and after all this is the last for us ! I’m only 6 wks but I can’t wait til I am 10 wks so I can try intelligender again !

  46. Sorry for all the people that got the wrong answer. I for one was very happy with Intelgender. I read the instrusctions clearly and left if for 10mins and got a result boy. Went for my ultra sound and it was correct. I also have 4 other friends who have used Intelgender who got correct results as they have had their healthy babies. Its important to correctly read the instructions you cant check it a hr later! its like a pregnancy test it clearly says the time period leaving it longer gives a false reading. I reccomend this product for any one with a open mind. worked for me and my friends thanks Intelegener!

  47. I had a very similar (only opposite) experience to you! I just took the test an hour ago, despite it being in the middle of the night (but they said as long as you haven’t peed in 2.5 hrs it was okay to do it no matter what time you woke up) and after ten minutes had no idea what to think!!! For the first 9 minutes it didn’t change at all – stayed yellow – so then I picked it up and it became a light green so I put it back down, worried that by “disturbing” it I had affected my result! I came back several minutes later and it was a dark green, matching the boy color result exactly. I wish it wasn’t so expensive or else I’d try it again because it didn’t change until I picked it up, but maybe if I had waited just one more minute it would have changed to dark green on its own. Grr. I’m at 12 weeks so I’m just going to wait 8 more until my ultrasound to learn the gender for sure. I have a son and really thought this was a girl (heartbeat was 175 compared to my son’s 145, among a complete opposite pregnancy) but obviously it’s possible this is another boy. . .however, I don’t feel this test has helped me know either way!

  48. its my 15th week of pregnancy and i decided to take intelligender test. i already had a girl and me n my husband dont want more than two kids. we both n our family now wants a boy. i took the test properly n it is dark green after 10 mins n stayed green after 45 mins. i loved that moment when it become green, it seems a wish come true.now should i have to be surely believe on it or not ?
